Poem: Darkness - A Boon or a Bane
A day came in my life,
when darkness was all that I could see.
Powerless I was standing in the middle of nowhere,
with not even a sliver of belief.
From the most brilliant of minds too,
sensible thinking ability sometimes leaves.
Because knowledge is always overpowered,
when it comes to grief.
This world has witnessed more than you can think of,
the mighty have fallen, noones have risen.
But darkness was what remained their ally,
when the world had lost faith in them.
Some of the men rose from the darkness,
and those who did made history.
Some found the darkness more comforting,
and those who did got lost as mystery.
It did feel as if times were difficult,
but it is true that I had nothing to lose.
That brought a sense of freedom,
a strength about which I had no clues.
Now when I am out of it,
I don't like to admit but I miss it.
Because these dark times were difficult,
but they were not really my enemy.
They were my points of enlightenment,
something which shaped me.
I would not be the person that I am today,
had everything in my life been right.
Because unless you witness the darkness,
you can never appreciate the light.
